"Universal Background Checks" & the High Moral Verbiage of Gun Banners

Right now gun banners are using devious marketing tactics to stake out the higher moral ground on the issue of gun bans, and they're using specific and nice sounding words to do it to appeal to the uninformed.

They are using words like “common sense,” “reasonable,” “compromise,” and “universal” when they describe any of their agendas to strip Americans of their civil rights that pre-date the creation of this country.

Listen, and you'll hear the gun banners say “common sense legislation” instead of massive gun bans, and they'll say “reasonable measures” in place of “registration and confiscation.”

They say that gun owners need to “compromise” and discuss their “reasonable and common sense” legislation, but in this case compromise doesn't mean that both sides get something, instead it means that gun owners are stripped of more civil rights and get nothing in return – not even safety or lower crime.

What's the Opposite of "Reasonable" & "Common Sense?"

If the gun banners are labeling themselves as the ones who are “reasonable” and having “common sense,” than that leaves us gun owners by default as the ones who must be un-reasonable and having no common sense. The gun banners feel it's their job to be our mom and to tell us what we can and can’t own, even if we haven't broken any laws, and even if more guns means less crime in society.

In their opinion, we are supposed to be grateful that they even “allow us to own anything at all, because they feel we shouldn't have any guns in today's world. The feel that it's through their generosity that we can even have some. The heads of the gun banner groups feel that the 2nd Amendment is an archaic idea written for frontier times by old, irrelevant, dead people, and it needs to be updated to coincide with their utopian, gun-free, modern society. In their perfect world, not even police would have guns, because they wouldn't need them if no one else had them.

To do that, they constantly stake out of the moral high ground as their way of dividing gun owners into separate and smaller groups that can be more easily conquered (ie. hunters vs. enthusiasts vs. collectors vs. self protection). If they can get some gun owners to agree and turn against themselves by agreeing to more restrictions, the gun banners win bit by bit.

But “Universal Background Check” Sounds Like a Good Thing

By labeling their gun registration and confiscation plan with an innocuous and vague term like “Universal Background Check,” they are in fact creating a box that they can put anything into, at any time. It will be a permanent system that they can grow as they'd like.

They can add to this system over time to further restrict and ban future ownership. If all guns must pass through the gun banner's UBC system, including the passing down of heirlooms, then future ownership can and will be squashed with future bans.

The News Doesn't Check Obama's "Facts"

The UBC may sound good when the news doesn’t check Obama’s grossly exaggerated figure that 40% of guns are sold privately, or his claim that it’s this so-called “loophole” that allows criminals to spend their hard-earned money on guns used in crime.

The truth is that private sale is not a loophole at all, but used to be the norm for hundreds of years until the gun banners created the current system. If anything, this is a concession that their past gun regulations didn't go far enough, and they want even private sales to go through their new system.

The 40% figure is a lie because private gun sales are really in the single digits, not to mention that most criminals don’t buy their guns from law-abiding citizens. Criminals may trade or buy guns from each other on a black market, but they steal them from law-abiding citizens.

The news doesn’t check Obama’s statement that our current background check system stopped 1.5 million people from getting guns, because the truth shows how failed the current system really is. The truth is that 94% of those rejected were errors, and the actual group of people that were prosecuted for trying to buy a gun illegally could all fit into your living room.

Most private gun sales are family gifts and heirlooms that are passed down from generation to generation, and that infuriates gun banners. They want to know what guns you have, even if it’s an old shotgun inherited from your grandpa. They want to know about it, record it in a database, so that down the road they can demonize it in the news, and then come and take it from you.

Registration equals confiscation, but not for criminals.

All Gun Control Has Proven to Fail

Remember that all gun control of every kind has failed. President Clinton's decade long "Assault-Weapon's Ban" was a complete failure by all accounts on both sides. But the gun banners say it failed because they didn't go far enough or use "confiscation."

The truth is that gun control only prevents good people from having guns, and not criminals – because criminals will always break the law and will always have weapons and will always refuse registration.

Every time someone says, “We must do this, or criminals will get guns,” or “We must do that, or criminals will carry guns,” remember that criminals already have guns and already carry them.

All of the 20,000+ gun laws only stop law-abiding citizens from their inalienable right to keep and bear arms. Each law bit by bit, strips good people from their ability to keep (own) and bear (carry) guns – a civil right that we're supposed to have without infringement from the government.

Every gun law is another infringement that we've put up with, and this UBC seems to be the final line in the sand for many. Right now gun banners are fighting harder than they ever had, and we have to fight back harder than we ever have for our civil rights and our children's.

I believe that the gun banners are pushing for so much registration that they hope to wear us out and then come up with a “compromise” and get what they really want, “Universal Background Check.” They even admit that the UBC system will be toothless without registration, and registration is useless without confiscation.

But What if UBC Doesn't Have Registration?

Sometimes the gun banners will say in one news clip or another that the "Universal Background Check" system won't have registration, but then they admit that it will, or will be useless without it.

Remember that this is all a shell game to them to get support from the un-educated, and the media has been shown 8-to1 to be complicit in the anti-gun agenda and they don't question it. As another example of media bias, look at the media's portrayal of two very different rallies.

The gun banners will insist on full registration and a database kept of all firearms. The question is whether it goes into their original bill, gets slipped in at the end, or gets added after it passes because they'll say that UBC just isn’t reducing crime like they planned. (FYI - No gun ban law ever reduces crime.)

They know they need it, they’re just trying to gain support by dividing gun owners before they slip it in. The real question is what happens after Registration? And will we let it go that far?

Two Videos

In closing, here are two videos that stuck out to me this week. The first is only 6 minutes long, by an Ex Secret Service Agent. It is powerful and worth watching.

The second is about 25 minutes long on the repercussions of UBC, by NUTNFANCY.

Finally, What Can You Do?

(1) Send 22 Emails With 2 Clicks

Both Ruger and Smith & Wesson have set up a website where you can send 11 pre-written letters by emails at once. Instantly email your local and state representatives, your Attorney General, Governor and Lieutenant Governor, as well as the President and Vice President.

Use both sites each week to send letters each week. Don't worry about annoying them, that's the idea. We want them to be so sick of us, that they finally start to take us seriously. It is working too.
(2) Call Your State Reps Weekly

Keep it up. The calls and emails are working, but the gun banners are expecting us to get tired out. Continue to call your state reps every week for the next 8 or so weeks. It'll take less than 1 minute per call and the message should be short and clear:

  • "Universal Background Checks are a fancy gun-ban term for total registration and then confiscation."
  • "All gun bans and restrictions have proven to fail to stop crime."
  • "We are watching you very closely on this issue and will send you home if you support any part of these proposed anti-gun bills."
Find your reps here: http://whoismyrepresentative.com/ and save their phone numbers in your phone as Congress 1, 2, and 3 with their names so that they are easy to call. Be friendly and to the point.

(3) Send Personal Emails Too

Even with the automated email links above, I've been sending certain representatives custom written emails. I think it's important to send something that is personally written so that it gets read. You can address certain things they've said both good and bad, and of course remind them that you are strongly motivated, and vote specifically on this one issue of gun rights.

(4) Join the NRA

There is no group better when it comes to access and influence with Congress and gun rights, and numbers of NRA members matter. The media has been trying to demonize and mock the NRA, but membership is growing leaps and bounds.

Be a year member for only about $25 using a discount with this link.

(5) Spread the Word

Spread the word by passing this around to all your friends and encourage them to all do the same thing. We have the facts and the majority of people in our favor. We just need to speak up.

(6) Take Someone Shooting

It’s amazing how taking someone shooting inoculates them against the lies of gun-banners. The more people get into shooting and study self-defense, the more they realize how much they want to prepare to defend themselves, and how much the government gets in their way of doing so.

(7) Read and educate yourself on the subject.

Gun Violence vs Total Violence

Do you really care what weapon is used to kill you or a family member? If a loved one is raped and killed, does it really matter if the weapon used is a bat, a knife, fists, or a gun?

America has substantially lower murder rates and violent crime compared to England, Australia and Canada – countries constantly shown by gun banners as having lower "gun" violence when compared to America.

But their information is misleading. Aren’t we looking for less total violence and fewer murders in America? Why then are anti-gun politicians and gun banners so pre-occupied with one of the smallest numbers in the violence category – “gun” violence? Why not total violence? It is because using the one number that fits their agenda is a way of mis-informing the gullible and uninformed.

How Gun-Banners Work

Gun banners believe in their hearts that more guns equal more crime, even though the stats all prove them wrong. Gun banners also know that they can’t remove all guns from society, even though they would like to, so they instead use the emotion of tragedies to keep people from looking at facts, while they take what freedoms and guns they can get with mis-information.

They attack on all fronts to strip Americans of as many civil gun rights as possible, but then pull back and “compromise” by just taking some. By “compromising,” they get what they always wanted, and they look like the good guys in the media and public opinion.

Truth: More Guns = LESS Crime

The truth is that when there are more guns in society, total violence and murder rates go down dramatically!

Economist John Lott used to be a gun banner, but he wanted to use a smarter approach and use numbers that could withstand debate, instead of the normal emotion-driven messages of other gun-banners. Being one of the nation’s lead economists, he set up a series of studies to prove that guns were bad, but instead proved again and again that they were actually good for society.

He listened to the numbers rather than bend them to his agenda and became a pro-gun advocate and wrote a book called More Guns, Less Crime amongst others.

Now in its 3rd edition, More Guns, Less Crime is a must read in this political anti-gun climate. Forbes describes the book like this:
“Lott’s book... presents highly sophisticated regression analysis of copious data relating to violent crime and guns city by city, county by county, and state by state, for several recent decades. Lott’s regression equations,

‘account for not only all the law enforcement variables (arrest, execution, and     imprisonment rates), income and poverty measures, (poverty and unemployment rates, per capita real income, as well as income maintenance, retirement and unemployment payments), the thirty-six measures of demographic changes, and the national average changes in crime rates from year-to-year and average differences across states …. In addition, the [regressions] account for the difference in various concealed handgun laws and other types of gun control laws.’
In short, this is the most sophisticated and comprehensive presentation of the data relating to violent crime and guns in the world.”
This and similar work relating to other countries worldwide shows that where the local population owns more guns, there is less crime. That it is because criminals avoid victims who are or might be armed, and prefer to prey on the defenseless and unarmed, such as in “gun-free” zones. And because the presence of guns that can be used in self defense stops the commission of the more violent crimes, such as murder.”
After the release of his book, Lott was interviewed by the anti-gun city of Chicago. You can read his short debate with the interviewer here, at the Universityof Chicago Press.

Someone else has put together this free ebook packed with facts that debunk the gun banner's myths.

So why don’t you hear about this in the news?

It's no news flash that the news outlets themselves are anti-gun. Media Research Center showed recently that news stories from "ABC,CBS, NBC Slant 8 to 1 for Obama's Gun Control Crusade."

So despite the fact that guns are used by millions of people every day for good, far more than then they are ever used for bad, you wouldn't know it listening to the news. If your view of the world comes from the news, you would think it is the opposite.

Remember that the media needs dysfunction to survive and tragedies are fraught with dysfunction. Plus it feeds into the long-told myth that we live in a “growing culture of violence,” a myth that politicians need people to believe in order to push through their agendas that would otherwise fail if facts were allowed into the discussion.

The New Media = Individuals & the Internet

Because of the strong media bias, frustrated individuals are turning to Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and other internet sources to share the truth on their own, as I am doing here. In this way, we all are sharing the truth and also showing how irrelevant the mainstream media really is.

As an example, here is someone who has started a YouTube channel, and in this short clip he quickly shows where got his crime facts and how misleading the gun banners really are.

MORE You Can Do TODAY to Stop Gun Bans

We are making some great headway to the point where some news agencies are sharing actual facts, admitting that gun bans won’t reduce crime but do the opposite. And many national figures are admitting that they doubt Congress will be able to get all the new gun bans through. Nevertheless, they are still trying to get something, but will be stopped or slowed because of the flood of calls and emails by you and me.

It is not time to let up, but rather we need to step it up and overwhelm them with even more pro-gun responses. Since my last posting, there is even more we can do, and they are fairly easy and will take almost no time.

Don’t wait until our 2nd amendment rights are infringed upon even more before you do something. Don’t wait until more areas follow New York to ban every magazine you already own that holds more than 8 rounds. Nine rounds, not 30, is now considered illegal and horribly unsafe in New York. And when that doesn't stop crime, they will use some tragedy to advance their agenda to a new lower number, and on and on until they get to zero.

Take 5 minutes right now and send some emails and make some calls with these easy services below.

(1) Send 11 Emails With 1 Click

Ruger has set up a website where you can send 11 emails at once. Instantly email your local and state representatives, your Attorney General, Governor and Lieutenant Governor, as well as the President and Vice President.

Almost 700,000 people have already used this service in the last week. Use it yourself to send 11 emails right now, and continue to use this in conjunction with your weekly calls to your representatives. They have the letter already written, just type in your info and with your zip code, it'll automatically send the emails to the right people.

http://ruger.com/micros/advocacy/takeAction.html

(2) Call Your State Reps Weekly

Continue to call your state reps every week for the next 8 or so weeks. It'll take less than 1 minute per call and the message should be short and clear:
"No new gun laws.
"Gun laws have proven to fail.
"We won't stand for scapegoating.
"Remove the phony 'gun free zones' which enable killers to go unchecked.
"We are watching you carefully on this issue. Work with us or we will work to send you home."
Find your reps here: http://whoismyrepresentative.com/ and save their phone numbers in your phone as Congress 1, 2, and 3 with their names so that they are easy to call. Be friendly and to the point.

(3) Sign the Petition with Gun Appreciation Day

We had a huge turnout across the country for various events as part of the Gun Appreciation Day, but the 2nd Amendment Foundation is looking for 50 Million signatures on the petition as well. Go and sign it. http://gunappreciationday.com

(4) Sign the Petition by the Salem Radio Network.

The US Concealed Carry and Salem Radio Network have been running a petition that's been doing well. Help boost the numbers of signatures on it by signing it. http://www.supportsecondamendment.com

(5) Join the NRA.

There is no group better when it comes to access and influence with Congress and gun rights, and numbers of NRA members matter. The media has done all it can to demonize and marginalize the NRA lately, but membership is growing still.

There are an estimated 90-150 million gun owners in America. There are sadly only 4 million members of the NRA. Don't be someone that is riding for free in the wagon, help pull the wagon.

- Be a year member for only about $25 using a discount with this link.
- Be a LIFE member for only $300 (normally $1000) by calling this number 888-678-7894. This is a special number set up for listeners of Gun Talk radio, and already as of last night, 4,807 people have signed up.

(6) Spread the Word

Spread the word by passing this around to all your friends and encourage them to all do the same thing. We have the facts and the majority of people in our favor. We just need to speak up.

What Can WE Do About the Looming Gun Bans?

Current Talks of Banning Semi-Autos

Right now the Right to Bear Arms is up against the worst and most sweeping bans to date. The anti-gun groups don't want to just ban sport rifles that they have cleverly called, "Assault Rifles" to confuse the gullible, but they want to ban all semi-autos. They want to ban rifles, handguns, and shotguns, and yes even pump shotguns, and yes even Dad's and Grandpa's old wood guns made even 100 years ago passed down as heirlooms.

They may say on camera that it's only about the "dangerous" and "evil" assault rifles, and that hunters need not fear, but everyone knows that semi-autos permeate hunting, competition, self-defense, and everything else. By trying to split hunters from gun owners, they really trying to say that non-hunting gun owners are crazy and need government intervention. It's a way to get gun owners to turn against each other, when instead we should be standing with each other.

Their model legislation for the country is being pushed through Chicago and New York right now, and it bans literally everything that is semi-auto or that can hold more then 7 bullets, not 30!

There's a Rush This Month

Senator Feinstein admitted that she had been working on this legislation for over a year, and it was clear that her and President Obama were just waiting for some crisis to push it through. They were already talking about it on the news before the bodies of the poor victims were even removed from the scene. The NRA on the other hand took a full week to make even a single statement.

So why rush it? Why push it through? Because it can't pass with level-headed minds. It can't pass when facts are allowed into the conversation. And they need it to pass as soon as possible so that it's as far away as possible from the Congressional elections in two years.

They want this through in the next 4-6 weeks, and they are using the words "Registration" and "Confiscation" on almost a daily basis, and they want to stop you from selling any gun privately or passing guns on to your heirs through a will.

It doesn't matter that they got through a rifle/magazine ban that lasted an entire decade and did nothing by all accounts to stop any crime, in their world the reason it didn't work is because they didn't go far enough. Feinstein admitted that if she had got the votes, she would have used confiscation at the time.

It's Not About "Bad" Guns, but All Guns

Like you, they don't believe that one rifle is good and other rifle is bad, or that 7 bullets is just fine but 8 is somehow horrible. They don't believe that, and they also don't believe it will lower crime either if they can ban more guns. However, what it does do is gets gullible people on their side and it distracts from their real message, which is that they hate all guns. They hate all bullets. Even one bullet is too much in their minds, but they will take what they can get right now.

This new attempt is to go so much further, so that if they are forced to compromise in any way, they will still get more than they would normally get.

So What Do WE Do?

(1) Join the NRA.

Yes, there are other gun groups. Some are good at systematic lawsuits (like the 2nd Amendment Foundation), but no group is better when it comes to access and influence over Congress, and numbers of NRA members matter.

There are an estimated 90-150 million gun owners in America. There are sadly only 4 million members of the NRA. Don't be someone that is riding for free in the wagon, help pull the wagon.

You don't have to give money when they call on occasion, in fact you can have them not call you or ever send you mail. You don't even have to take the free American Rifleman magazine, but at the very least, join right now. You'd spend more on a box of bullets to shoot this week, join the NRA and get everyone else to do the same.

[save $10 with this link. It'll only be about $25 for a year.]

(2) Call each of your 3 state reps, once a week for the next 8 weeks.

The GunTalk radio show is asking all gun owners to do this and to get everyone else you know to do it too. It'll take less than 1 minute per call and the message should be short and clear.
"No new gun laws.
"Gun laws have proven to fail.
"We won't stand for scapegoating.
"Remove the phony 'gun free zones' which enable killers to go unchecked.
"We are watching you carefully on this issue. Work with us or we will work to send you home."
Don't talk about how there's no difference mechanically between modern sport rifles and guns made 100 years ago, no need to talk about magazine capacity or databases or registrations. Instead the message should be short and to the point, "Gun bans have always proven to fail. We do not want you to keep doing what we know will fail and punish millions of good people at the same time."

That's it. I saved my reps phones in my cell phone as Congress 1, 2, and 3 with their names. That makes them easy to find and easy to call. When you call, you'll just get an intern who listens and makes a note about how you feel. Be friendly and to the point.

What we need is a literal flood of calls so that they get the message that the American people will not stand for this.

Find your reps here and save their numbers in your phone. http://whoismyrepresentative.com/

(3) Sign the Petition and Be Apart of Gun Appreciation Day

The 2nd Amendment Foundation is looking for 50 Million signatures, plus get a grass-roots events going all over America on January 19th, 2013, set to coincide with the Obama inauguration.

Go and sign the petition, and then see and be apart of what's happening on Gun Appreciation Day. The idea is to take flags, the constitution, and signs and visit your local gun store or gun show on January 19th and help make a big showing.

The idea is to replace the media's constant negative news on guns and gun owners with some positive and overwhelming news, and the national news is already all over this. In fact, some anti-gun groups are trying to stop it, feeling that they should not only stop our 2nd Amendment rights, but also our 1st Amendment rights to free speech and right to assemble.

It is a grass roots event, where people can organize and help as they would like, with many areas like Utah, organizing a march at the State Capitol as well.

(4) Spread the Word

Spread the word by passing this around to all your friends and encourage them to all do the same thing. We really do have the numbers in our favor if we just speak up.

The majority of Conservatives believe in the 2nd Amendment, the majority of Independents believe in the 2nd Amendment, the majority of Moderates believe in the 2nd Amendment, many Democrats believe in the 2nd Amendment, which means that the majority of Americans still believe in the 2nd Amendment.

Spread the word and make your 3 calls, once a week, for the next 8 weeks, sign the petition, and be apart of Gun Appreciation Day.

Why Biased Media & Liberal Agendas Need Each Other, And What You Won’t Hear About Mass Shootings

Yesterday was a sad day. An evil man set on committing mass murder, disregarded morality, disregarded laws, made plans, took preparations, and killed the most helpless and innocent people in our society – children. Religious people and those on the right have no problem calling this evil and know that evil does and will always exist despite laws and government intervention.

However, the immediate and knee jerk reaction from the biased media, Hollywood, and leftists politicians is a cry for more government laws and bans – and anyone who disagrees is “stupid.” (news link)

But is it stupid to ask what new law will stop someone who is evil and disregards laws? Isn’t it actually stupid to instead believe the leftist-utopian idea that a world where no one is allowed to defend themselves, magically makes everyone safe from evil?

It’s always sad when evil presents itself in the world, however I find it almost as bad to sit and wait to capitalize on such a tragedy and use emotions to push political agendas. The anti-gun groups are notorious for writing up gun-bans, and then waiting for horrible tragedies to begin pushing them.

In the words of Barack Obama’s previous Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanual, “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that, it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” (quote link)

It is morally reprehensible to wait to use tragic events as launching pads for bad agendas that would never pass when emotions were set aside and facts were allowed into the discussion.

Even in President Obama’s moving speech after the shooting yesterday, he couldn’t help but in the same breath announce that he was going to push for the gun bans he’s always wanted, implying that these kinds of tragedies happen “all the time” and he can solve them with his anti-gun bans, and no one better let “politics” get in the way of him. (speech link)

NEWS is the Exception, Not the Norm

The real truth is that these things don’t happen all the time. (news link) News is only news because it is extreme and rare and the odd exception. News isn’t about the common place. News is never about the 100+ million gun owners that use guns for good, many ever single day for self-defense, or that there are more gun owners than doctors, more gun owners than golfers, more gun owners than both combined, or that your children are more likely to be killed by their doctor, by lighting, or in a car wreck, than in a school shooting.

The normal news outlets will never tell you that the divorce rate of 50% is a gross exaggeration by double, that marriage has been on the rise for the last 30 years, that teen pregnancy is down, drug use is down, crime is down, gun ownership is skyrocketing, and more guns of any kind in society do not relate to more crime, but in fact the opposite is true.

Why? Because this kind of information goes against the very nature of news. "If it bleeds, it leads," is the common mantra of news outlets, which shows that they have a biased towards bad news and tragedies. No one even doubts that news outlets are biased; and we even shrug when we see it on TV shows and Hollywood movies.

Hollywood constantly marginalizes gun owners as weird, un-educated, and various characters routinely ask the question, “Why do you need a gun?” They imply that in today's age, why is there a need to defend oneself when we have the government to protect us?

No one in media focuses on the numerous good uses of guns every day to protect themselves (some examples here) because it’s not news to them and goes against their mistaken belief that society is sick. However they do focus on crimes used with guns where laws or rules keep the victims from being able to defend themselves, and the tragedy is therefore made much worse by the perpetrator.

The media’s motto is its cause for bias: "If it Bleeds, it Leads."

This feeds the false ideas that guns are to blame, gun manufactures and models are important details in a news story, that our society is sick, and that crime is always up, and government needs to do something.

The belief that society is getting more sick is what the news business is all about, and it’s good news for them as well as leftists that want to push agendas. That is the crux of the problem and that is why emotion rather than facts will keep both the media and bigger-government agendas biased.

They are like the two sides of the yin and yang circle that constantly chase and feed each other. The biased media needs bad news to survive and always has the same knee-jerk reaction to every horrible story, “Where was the government protection? Why wasn’t the government there to save us?”

Those with a leftist agenda on the other hand crave a bigger government and need the drum beat of bad news in order to move agendas forward. They wait for the right tragedies to say, “This new, bloated government program, this new spending program, this reduction in liberties, this new regulation, this new oversight, or this new ‘sensible’ ban – this will save us.” ...until the next event where they admit they didn't go far enough, create enough regulation, reduce enough liberties, or ban enough guns.

Do Tragedies Really Require Government Solutions?

Why must a tragedy require us to "do something?" We already have laws in place and someone broke them on purpose. So why do people say, "we need some laws to stop things like this from happening." The fact is that we can't legislate away evil.

It’s depressing to hear of this tragedy yesterday, knowing that it will be compounded with an immediate outcry from those with an agenda to grow government, and have it swoop in and protect us. But in the end they'll continue to be simple solutions to complex problems that do nothing to address the fact that some people are just evil.

Nevertheless, some gun bans sound fine to uninformed people, especially when the Brady Anti-Gun Campaign has for years used the phrases “sensible” and “common sense” before using the word “ban” or “regulation” saying, “that some common sense gun regulations couldn’t hurt.”

The Seductiveness Of Anti-Gun Groups

So my question to those people is what new ban would make them happy? What ban would really stop crime? What ban would stop mass-murders from happing? Mass murders are dropping all the time despite a growing population and more guns in society?

We already have 20,000 gun laws in America, what’s that one gun law that we’re missing that would stop a murderer from breaking the law of committing murder?

The Brady Anti-Gun Campaign claims that their gun restrictions have stopped millions of felons from getting guns, but they want even more restrictions. But if they are right, where are the millions of felons that have been stopped? Where is the huge jail that’s full of these millions of felons stopped and arrested by the Brady Campaign’s Anti-Gun laws? The truth is they haven’t stopped millions of felons and the few that have been stopped could fit in your living room.

What they really want is for no one to be able to have any gun of any kind. And by vilifying some guns based on cosmetic reasons only, they win bit by bit. They get people to agree that yes, some guns should be on the left column and some on the right.

They won’t tell you why, but instead demonize certain guns as being for “Assault” or for the “Military,” despite the fact that you could really say that about every gun. There’s no difference in the guns they want to ban from guns made 100 years ago.

If they win this one it opens the door to any and all guns being labeled for "assault." It's the exact carbon-copy plan used to ban guns in Australia and Europe.

Government is the replacement for religion.

Those that push for gun bans tend to be people who's highest form of religion is government. They believe that government can and will fix every problem in society – if government could just be bigger. They believe that by putting up “Gun-Free-Zone” signs, that evil people will see the signs and go elsewhere. They imagine a gun-free country where we hold hands and sing Kumbaya because in their view, inanimate objects like guns are the cause of violence. They yearn for and want to create a violence-free world free of guns, where everyone is helpless and unable to defend themselves.

So where is their utopian society that they can hold up as a shining light to the world, a place where restrictive gun laws has created a place free of all evil and horrible violence?

Where's the Anti-Gun Utopia? Mexico? China?

Where in the world is their example that they want to emulate? On our very same continent, Mexico has the exact restrictive laws that they want and who believes that individuals there are somehow safer from evil?

China has horribly restrictive laws, putting people to death for even coming into possession of a gun, yet criminals there still have guns. And yesterday, the same day as our US school attack, there was a mass stabbing in a Beijing school where 28 children of the small age of four years old were stabbed. Why didn’t the Chinese anti-gun laws and anti-murder laws save these children from someone who is evil and doesn’t obey laws? (news link)

Why Won't the Media Blame the Media?

The media is quick to blame the Freedom to Bear Arms, yet why won’t they blame the Freedom of the Press or the Freedom of Free Speech for this tragedy? If anything it should be obvious that evil people seeking attention are the ones committing horrendous crimes of mass murder, and the media’s constant pouring over the life of the perpetrator, sympathizing with them, asking questions about why society let them down and who was really to blame, gives them the attention they seek, and therefore feeds the problem.

And yes, this applies to perpetrators who kill themselves afterwards, because others who are out there like them, watch the news and relate to the perpetrators. They see the attention given to the perps, the constant talk about how they were really a victim of society and how society let them down, and this media drivel goes on for weeks on every channel, talk show and newspaper. The perp gets notoriety and similar people watch that and desperately want the same attention poured over them. They feel like victims too and want their own attention and sympathy by doing the same thing.

So why doesn’t the media report on this? Because they believe that those types of sick people are rare compared to the rest of their audience. In other words, the rights of free speech and free press are mostly used for good, and some bad things will just happen. But they refuse to accept that the same argument in terms of the one constitutional and civil right that they adamantly disagree with – guns.

Don't fall for the liberal "Do-Something Disease."

Don't let the media's constant narrative cause you to believe that every bad thing requires us to "do something." Don't believe that it's the government's job to constantly be there to save us. Don't let the TV be your view of the outside world. Don't let the media's negative view of society, crime, family, religion, and guns cause you to believe the country is in irreversible decline and that only more government intervention can save us.

Remember that "news" is what's different, and is not the norm. Remember that the news and liberal agendas are fed by bad news and not by facts. Have a no-shrug policy when it comes to news agencies and liberal politicians making wild claims about guns in order to push an agenda. Never let their mis-information pass by writing in, posting on their stories, and link to better facts.

Pray for our country, and do what you can to spread conservative, religious and family values. Do what you can to lighten the oppressive requirements that keep others from being able to defend themselves, and help others understand the truth about guns and the decrease of crime.

If your are a gun owner, join the NRA no matter what. When they call you on occasion, give some money if you can, but be a member no matter what. The number of members has a lot of weight on congress, especially if membership is going up.

And just as you wear a seatbelt every day and not just on the days that you’ll get in a wreck, admit that evil exists in this world and look at how you can be prepared to defend yourself just in case. Do not fall for the myth that the government should and will always be there to protect you.

Truth Dispels Myths

And finally, beef up your knowledge on real gun facts because truth dispels myths and lies. Let me recommend a book by an economist who started on the left, wanting to ban guns. As he gathered and juried studies, he had to remain unbiased for the numbers to have any power and influence, and he proved time and time again that guns were actually good for society.

Being a man of integrity, he became a gun advocate and wrote a number of books showing all of his numbers and stats – none of which will ever appear in the news or quoted by liberal politicians.

Prepare yourself and read John Lott’s book, More Guns, Less Crime.
